Corten Weathering Steel
Corten steel, also known as weathering steel, is a type of steel alloy that develops a protective layer of rust when exposed to weathering. This rust layer forms a stable and protective patina, giving the steel enhanced resistance to atmospheric corrosion compared to other steels. Corten steel is often used in outdoor structures, such as building facades, bridges, and sculptures, due to its distinctive appearance and ability to withstand harsh weather conditions without needing painting or additional corrosion protection. The name “Corten” is a combination of the words “corrosion” and “resistance.”
